Wilmington DE Real Estate and General Information


Wilmington is the largest city in the state of Delaware and is the county seat of New Castle County.  It is approximately 25 miles southwest of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and one of several major cities situated along the I-95, and located approximately mid-point between New York and Washington. It has local service to Philadelphia via SEPTA Regional Rail and is also served by the Wilmington Rail Station, with frequent service between Boston, Massachusetts, and Washington, DC, via Amtrak's Northeast Corridor. It is home to over half ot he Fortune 500 companies.

REAL ESTATE
The Suburban Wilmington real estate market offers affordable home with prices ranging from $29,000 to luxury homes price over $1 million. The options are diverse with Victorian-style row houses, to two-story brick homes, as well as split-levels, ranch-style and townhouses.  Suburban Wilmington extends from north of the city and southwest of the city.

EDUCATION
Residents of Wilmington are in one of three school districts: Red Clay, Brandywine and Christina for elementary, junior high and high school public education. Wilmington also has well-established private schools, including Salesianum School, Archmere Academy, Ursuline Academy and Padua Academy plus several charter schools. Post-secondary education is available within Wilmington, with Wilmington College, University of Delaware, Goldey Beacom College and Widerner University all having Wilmington Campuses.

RECREATION
Situated along the Brandywine River, within the City of Wilmington, Wilmington State parks is centrally located with great opportunities for recreation, education, and sports and community events. This is a group of four parks, including Brandywine Park with the Brandywine Zoo and Baynard Stadium, Rockford Park, H. Fletcher Brown Park and Alopocas Woods Natural Area. These parks are connected by trails and are even pet friendly with the majority of areas accessible with leashed pets and also include three off-leash areas.  The revitalized Wilmington Waterfront along the Christina River also offer numerous restaurants, shopping and entertainment venues, plus luxury water front housing and condominiums.
